The Baroque period directly followed the Renaissance. Baroque Styles were evoked by the works of Michelangelo in Italy, but these were adopted by Flemish Dutch designers in Holland and Belgium. Large containers held flamboyant arrangements featuring a wide variety of different, mismatched flowers as seen in the works of artists of this period. Flemish designs are regarded for the excellent use of many different shapes, colors and textures. Flemish style flower designs are very lavish, full, and unique. These arrangements are generally considered formal because of their mass and elaborate composition.
Depth is important in Flemish floral design. By cascading some Berries and Fatima Green Dendrobium Orchid over the edges of the urn and playing an interesting contrast to the height of this arrangement with Yelloween Lilies adds to the dimension of the arrangement.
Flemish style arrangements typically feature warm hues flowers. Using Orange Alstromeria, Fuschia & Red Roses, Pink Gerberas and Yeloween lilies create such warm hues for this arrangement. It is common to see only one or two stems of a particular flower in a Flemish flower arrangement. Prominently, Cabbage Roses are placed in positions within the arrangement where they would receive the most attention. As these pieces focused on the flowers, containers were very simple and understated. The urn were fully wrapped with Fortune Plants leaves to create a modern twist to this arrangement.
